Nell Hargrove Arnold

Nell Hargrove Arnold, age 84, of Savannah, Tennessee passed away peacefully at Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, Thursday, March 6, 2025. She was born September 19, 1940 to Azalee and Rex Hargrove in the Olive Hill community of Hardin County. She leaves behind a loving daughter, Tina Arnold of Savannah, Tennessee, and a son, Tracy Arnold of Memphis, Tennessee. Nell is survived by her granddaughter, Kristie Franks of Jackson, Tennessee and two great grandchildren, Reid Franks and Rylee Pettigrew. Additionally, Nell leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Azalee and Rex Hargrove, her husband, Dwight Arnold, her sister, Katherine “Punkin” Cagle and her brother, Joe Hargrove.

A graduate of the 1959 class of Savannah Central High School, Nell married her high school sweetheart, Dwight Arnold, January 9, 1960. Furthering her education, she became a cosmetologist in the early 60’s. Nell’s Beauty Shop, located in her home, served as the centerpiece for a circle of friends and clients for more than 48 years.

Nell, a devoted member of the Second Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee, served in several positions throughout the years. She touched many lives each week as she faithfully led the Women’s Sunday School class. In addition, she served as church secretary and was on two pastoral search committees.

A cancer survivor of over 21 years, Nell passionately supported the American Cancer Society and encouraged those battling cancer with messages of healing and hope. Nell enjoyed several hobbies including gardening, sewing, and cooking. She treasured being around her family and friends. She loved to travel and explore new shopping venues. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, positive attitude and genuine caring for others. Her memory will always be a blessing.
