Ned Leathers, 82, of Toone, died Monday evening, February 19, 2007 at his home.
The widower of Mattie Appleton Leathers, who died December 25, 2004, he was a retired postmaster with the Toone U.S.P.S. Mr. Leathers was born November 15, 1921 in Cloverport, son of the late William Floyd Leathers and Mary Lorraine Harrell Leathers and lived in the Toone-Cloverport area all of his life. He served as Captain in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and was a deacon at Toone Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Dr. Mary Ann Leathers-Hobbs and her husband, William of Atlanta, GA, Patsy Leathers Receveur and her husband, Bob of Friendsville and Betty Leathers of Maryville; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jennifer Leathers of Ross, CA; two sisters, Peggy Henry of Bolivar and Elizabeth DeAngelis of Memphis; two brothers, Kirby Leathers of Atlanta, GA and Bill Leathers of Memphis; four grandchildren, Meg Leathers Morrison, Jeffrey and Ed Leathers and Alice Receveur McColloch. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Floyd Leathers, Jr. and Leonard Cary (Dude) Leathers.
