NATHAN WRIGHT

Henderson, TN: Dennis Nathan Wright age 66 passed away June 25, 2019 at his home.

He was born March 21, 1953 in Madison County and reared in Jacks Creek, the son of the late Worth and Ruby Eunice Nobles Wright. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1971 where he excelled in three sports, receiving the Chester County Independent Athlete of the Year award. He never missed a practice while being an honor student. He was All Conference, and All State, and held numerous school records, many of which still stand today.

He attended UT Martin on a football scholarship and later graduated from Bethel University with a BA degree. He has worked in several capacities in the construction business. He worked with Sunny Record and Bill Vancleave in the construction business. He went to welding school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He owned and operated Wright’s Welding and maintained a long career in pipeline welding, fabrication, and power plant construction. He retired from Jackson Energy Authority. He most recently retired from Q3 Contracting in Minnesota, Union Local 798. He continued Wright’s Welding from his home, and mentored many young men, teaching them the welding trade.

He joined Free and Accepted Masons of Henderson, Chapter 485 in 1983, where he obtained his master’s degree and further reared his masonic degree to the 32nd Scottish and York Rites. He was a full Shrinner. He has served as Worshipful Master at the Henderson Lodge five times. He presided at numerous Masonic funerals in the area for many years. He was a grand representative to numerous states from the Grand Lodge in Nashville. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Henderson.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rebecca Ann “Becky” Pierce Wright; a son, Benjamin Wright of Big Spring, TX; a daughter, Jennifer Scott of Henderson; and six grandchildren, Mason Scott, Logan Cornin, Bentley Wright, Brayden Wright, Melody Hanson, and Nate Wright.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Wright in 2018, and a sister, LaTasha Phillips.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 29, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson – Crook Avenue with Bro. Brad Patterson and Dr. Bill Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery. All Masons will serve as honorary pall bearers.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, June 28.

Masonic rites will be Friday evening at 8:30 PM with Greg Sullivan officiating.
