Nancy Goodell Simpson

Nancy Goodell Simpson, 73, of Middleton, died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at Ave Maria Assisted Living Home in Bartlett.



The wife of Francis L. Simpson, Jr., who survives, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Simpson was born May 22, 1932 in Memphis, daughter of the late Charles Henry Goodell and Ethel Verbie Goodell and lived there for 20 years, graduating from Southside High School in 1951, before making her home in Middleton. She was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church in Middleton where she was the pianist for over 50 years and a faithful Women’s bible teacher. As well as having musical skills, she was an accomplished artist and member of the Society of National Pen Women.



Services were 3 PM Friday, September 16, 2005 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Middleton chapel with Tim Simpson and Rev. Chuck Woodruff officiating. Burial was in Middleton City Cemetery with Rev. J.D. Littlefield at the graveside.



In addition to her husband, whom she married June 12, 1952, survivors include one daughter and her husband, Holly and Kim Easterling of Hartsville, SC; one son and his wife, Tim and Leah Simpson of Lakeland; one brother, Harry Goodell of Memphis and eight grandchildren, Timothy Goodell “T.J.” Simpson, Jr., Kaitlyn Aloha “Katie” Simpson, Mikayla Grace Simpson, Joshua Francis Simpson, Joseph Vance Simpson, Jessica Aubrey Dietz-Easterling, Andrew Michael “Drew” Easterling and Kimberly Alexis “Alex” Easterling. She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Francis Simpson and two sisters, Louise Brigance and Evelyn Whetherhold.
