Nancy Carolyn Shumate

Jackson, TN: Nancy Carolyn Rouse Shumate age 72 passed away June 10, 2018 at Huntingdon Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 22, 1946 in Chester County the daughter of the late Virginia Rouse Cupples. She attended Chester County High School. She was married to the love of her life James ‘Buck’ Shumate, Jr. for twenty-nine years.
She worked for Proctor and Gamble for 19 years, retiring in 2003. She was a member of the American Legion Post 90 Ladies Auxiliary in Jackson. She was an avid reader and an excellent seamstress. She was also a prankster and big “cut-up”. She was Baptist in faith.
Mrs. Shumate is survived by her husband, James ‘Buck’ Arnold Shumate, Jr. of Jackson; three daughters, Nancy Darlene Murray (Ed) of Las Vegas, NV, Julie Harrison (Lance) of Humboldt and Holly Oakley (John) of Humboldt; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford Rouse of Jackson and Anthony ‘Tony’ Cupples of Lexington and two sisters, Lavelle Weeks and Cara Holmes both of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Douglas Smith.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Ken Kitchen officiating. Burial will follow in Cave Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM Tuesday.
