Nancy Godwin was born on April 15, 1947 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Columbus Brownlow and Dorothy Faye Love Shelby.
On July 25, 1963, she was united in marriage to Jimmy "Turkey" Godwin, who survives.
Nancy was a member of Savannah Church of Christ in Savannah, Tennessee and previously worked for Kiddy Shope and as a substitute teacher. She enjoyed shopping, quilting, making jewelry, designing fashion, decorating homes, and collecting purses and jewelry. Nancy was also an avid fan of Elvis Presley.
Nancy Godwin departed this life on May 21, 2021 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 74 years, 1 month, and 6 days.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jimmy "Turkey" Godwin of Savannah, Tennessee; daughters, Michele Renee "Shelley" Roach and her husband Mark of Savannah, Tennessee and Kristi Laine Lewis and her husband Frank of Fayetteville, Arkansas; sisters, Beverly Dickerson of Savannah, Tennessee and Judy Griggs of Waynesboro, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jon Tyler Roach and William Spencer Lewis; and special in-laws who were also her caretakers, Richard and Kathy Thompson of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy Shelby, Roger Shelby, Dixie Shelby, Dean Shelby, and an infant brother.
