Myrtle Sanderson Byrum, 91, of Mercer, died Thursday, June 30, 2005 at her home.
The widow of Thomas Oren Byrum, who died in 1996 after 66 years of marriage, she was worked at the Ben Franklin Store for 21 years, was a cook at Bolivar Elementary School and worked at Tennessee Foods for many years. Mrs. Byrum was born May 12, 1914 in Hardeman County, daughter of the late L. Manley Sanderson and Georgia Bell Cox Sanderson. She was a member of Cloverport Baptist Church.
Services were 2 PM Saturday, July 2, 2005 at Cloverport Baptist Church with George Clark and David Brown officiating. Burial was in Maple Springs Cemetery near Mercer with grandsons, Gary and Larry Turpin, Stan and Marc Byrum, Charlie Ross and Jim King serving as casket bearers and Robert Ross, Derek and Brandon Byrum and Michael Turpin as honorary casket bearers. Survivors include one daughter, Nell Turner of Mercer; two sons, Bedford Byrum of Mercer and Herbert Lavern Byrum of Humboldt; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnson, Siler and Manley Sanderson and one sister, Ina Taylor.
