Minnie Welch departed this life on Monday, May 6, 2019, at her home in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 1 day. She was born in Collierville, Tennessee, on December 5, 1929, the daughter of the late Walter and Sarah Jones Hill. On November 4, 1965, she was united in marriage to Bob Welch, who preceded her in death on February 5, 1999.
In her lifetime, Minnie, had lived in Collierville, Memphis, and made her home in Savannah, Tennessee. While in Memphis, she had worked at Shoney's as a waitress, a job she loved. When she moved to Savannah, she went to work for Hi-Low Dollar Store, and then to Fred's. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and attended Second Baptist Church.
Minnie would always call her daughter, Gail, every morning and say," Well, what's on your agenda for the day?". If you were to call her, you were sure to hear her say,"I'm fine", as only Minnie could say it. She had a standing appointment at the beauty shop on Tuesday mornings, which she loved. Her dogs, Desi, whom she loved to take for walks and Thelma and Louise, were her pride and joy. When the weather was nice, Minnie could always be seen working out in her yard, picking up sticks, and keeping her sidewalk swept. She loved Christmas, collecting Nutcrackers, and playing dirty Santa, and always said what was on her mind. She was a "Trumpster" and tried true Alabama fan.
Minnie is survived by her daughters, Brenda Gail Talley and her husband David of Morris Chapel, Tennessee, and Robin Kenney and her husband Jeff of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Michael Talley and his wife Belinda, Samantha Talley Charles and her husband Sabas, Scotty Talley, Jake Kenney, and Taylor Kenney; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Talley, David James (D.J.) Talley, Laura Talley, and Josh Charles; and her sister, Molly Elizabeth Phillips of Arizona.
