Minnie Lee Wooten Cooksey, 86, of Bolivar, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at her home.
The widow of Wilford Vaughan, who died in 1944, and Clarence Elliott Cooksey, who died January 29, 2004 after 57 years of marriage, she worked at the Bolivar Central High School cafeteria for many years and was owner/operator of Cooksey’s Grocery on Highway 64 East. Mrs. Cooksey was born March 23, 1920 in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Adolphus and Mamie Madeline Ervin Wooten and lived here all of her life. She was the oldest living member of Forrest Hill Pentecostal Church where she was a member since the late 1950’s and an active singer.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Ferguson of Selmer; two sons, William E. and Wilton L. Vaughan, both of Bolivar; one brother, Harlan Wooten; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by daughter, Martha E. Cooksey; her son, Larry E. Cooksey; an infant daughter; four sisters, Ola Mae King, Maggie Wooten, Ruby Wiggins Sexton and Viola Breeden and three brothers, Otis, O. C. and K. C. Wooten.
