Minnie Lee Rhodes

July 11, 1919 — May 3, 2007

Mrs. Rhodes was born and reared in Chester County, the daughter of the late John and Ula Spincer Bishop. She finished high school in Henderson and was a talented basketball player. She married Franklin Nunnery Rhodes in 1947. They made their home in Henderson and she worked at Salant and Salant, Bishop’s Corner Grocery, and also at Magic Valley Factory Outlet. Mr. Rhodes died in 1993.



Mrs. Rhodes was a very faithful volunteer worker with the American Red Cross Blood Mobile visits and was a five gallon donor herself. She also worked with the Chester County Election Commission, working with the early vote and the absentee vote. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson.



She is survived by a son; William F. ‘Bill’ Rhodes and wife Joyce of Opelika, AL, two grandchildren; William F. ‘Billy’ Rhodes and Felicia Rhodes, and a great grandson Will Rhodes. She has several cousins, including Emily Lott and Tony Lott.



She was preceded in death by a son James Bishop ‘Jim’ Rhodes in 2001 and a brother Woodrow ‘Bud’ Bishop.



Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday from the Chapel of Casey Funeral Home with Bro. Stan Smith officiating and burial will follow at Henderson City Cemetery.



The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning 5:00 PM today.
