Mrs. Minnie Bell Littlejohn, 95, departed this life January 23, 2009, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Jackson, Tennessee.
Mrs. Littlejohn was born October 16, 1913, to the late Wylie and Maude Springer Randolph. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William Stanton Littlejohn; her three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Patey and husband James, Mrs. Cassie Gardner and husband Newton, and Mrs. Lillian Burns and husband George; two brothers, Everett, a casualty of World War II, and a brother who died at birth; nephews, Eddie Burns and wife Louise, and Joe Bowman, husband of niece Carolyn Smith Bowman; sisters-in-law, Wreathie Littlejohn and Eunice Smith and husband Arthur; and a brother-in-law, Joel Littlejohn, who died as a child.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Don Rayburn Richard of Jackson, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Joy Catherine Richard, and two great grandsons, Blaze and Domingo and their father, Ben Jones, all of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nieces, Carolyn Bowman of Eastview, Eva Epps and husband J.D. of Houston, Texas and Mary Katherine Ferrell and husband Herb of Memphis; nephews, Randy Burns and wife Nancy of Annapolis, Maryland, Donald Gardner and wife Elaine of Chester, Virginia, Jimmy Patey of Corinth, Mississippi, Eddie Smith and wife Carolyn Lee of Eastview; and a cousin, Lucille McCormack of the Mayflower Community.
Mrs. Littlejohn was a lifelong resident of McNairy County. She was born in the New Hope community, raised in Gravel Hill, and lived her adult life in Eastview. She worked on the family farm until 1946, when she joined Brown Shoe Company and worked there until her retirement at age 65. Mrs. Littlejohn had been a member of Gravel Hill Baptist church since age 13, and served actively in the church until the onset of her illness in 2001. She enjoyed her family, her many friends, travel, music and the flowers she grew.
