Milton Shelbywas born in Hardin County, Tennessee on June 21, 1917 the son of the late Clyde Walker and Mary Tucker Shelby.Mr. Shelby worked at the Tax Assessor's Office mapping and measuring property. He had also worked at ASCS, Brown Shoe Company, and as a farmer. He was a member of the Olivet Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Big Ivy Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Shelby departed this life on January 2, 2009 at the age of 91 years, 6 months, 12 days.Mr. Shelby is survived by his wife, Louise Franks Shelby of Savannah, Tennessee; a daughter: Cora Lou Montgomery of Florence, Alabama; a son: James Milton Shelby, Jr. of Savannah, Tennessee; 3 sisters: Lura Shelby Volnor of Millington, Tennessee, Tera Shelby Irvin of Mountain View, Missouri, and Edith Shelby Franks of Savannah, Tennessee; a brother: Clinton Shelby of Knoxville, Tennessee; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, Mr. Shelby was preceded in death by his 1st wife: Verlon Brown Shelby; his 2nd wife: Janie Hinton Shelby; a brother: Leonard Shelby.
