Millard D. Adams, 87, of Middleton, died Saturday evening, May 26, 2007 at Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt.
He was born December 17, 1919, in Littleton, Ill., son of the late Delmar and Gladys Robinson Adams and lived in Florida and Rhode Island prior to moving to Middleton in 1961. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer with the US Navy in 1972 after 20 years of service, including World War II and Korea. He retired from shipping at Harman Automotive after 20 years of employment. Mr. Adams was a member of the American Legion, VFW, the Masonic Lodge and Middleton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Mark D. Adams of North Carolina, John R. Adams of Knoxville and Col. James W. Adams of Woodbridge, VA; two stepdaughters and a stepson, whom he raised, Ginny Y. Jordan of Sardis, MS, Patti A. Lanier of Middleton and Hugh G. Dorminy of Russellville, AR; a sister, Mary Bell of Portland, OR; a brother, Ray Adams of Dorsey, Ill.; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred W. Adams in 2002; two sisters, Rachel Adams and Ruth Benz and a brother, Robert Adams.
