Mrs. Mildred A. Ragon went to meet the Lord and maker on March 1, 2006, 2:15 am, at Honey Grove Nursing Home, Honey Grove, Texas, sixteen days short of 92 years young. Funeral services were at 11:00 am, March 4, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Bolivar, Tennessee.
Officiating was Church of Christ preacher of Bolivar, David Looney. Pallbearers were James H. Ragon, Bob Ragon, Michael Dewoody,
Steve Story, Lynn Sipes, Jerry Harris and John Sain.
Mildred Ragon was born in Bowie County, Texas, March 17, 1914. The Crawford family moved to West Tennessee (Bolivar) in 1925.
Mrs. Ragon married Ray Curtis Ragon May 5, 1936. Mr. Ragon died May 19, 1953.
Surviving are her sisters. Eva Sain of Bolivar, Tennessee and Mae Beth Hartman of Enid, Oklahoma, children Dorris Ann Smith
(deceased January 1990) of Deer Park, Texas and Crawford Ragon of Dodd City, Texas, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and I great great grandchild.
Mrs. Ragon was active in the Church of Christ at Bolivar for over 50 years. Mrs. Ragon worked at the Red River Ammunition Plant in
Hooks, Texas, for five years, then upon the death of her husband, Ray, returned to Bolivar, Tennessee, where she soon began work at
Western State Mental Hospital, managing Clemente Kitchen for 20 years, then retired. Her son moved her back to Bonham, Texas,
September 1998 to be close to his family.
Mrs. Ragon was buried in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery next to her husband.
