MILDRED GRISWELL

Henderson, TN: Mildred Stella Cupples Griswell, age 76 passed away October 1, 2023, at her home.

She was born May 16, 1947, in the Montezuma Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Jack and Lucille Easley Cupples. She grew up and attended school in Montezuma.

She worked many years at Salant & Salant Mfg. and then worked at Sonoco for ten years, retiring in 1993.

She was an active church member at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

She was a caregiver to many, especially family members.

She was an excellent quilter and loved to grow flowers and make funeral flowers and decorations. She was a bargain hunter and enjoyed going to yard sales.

She loved her family as a priority and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her dog “Buddy”.

Mrs. Griswell is survived by three sons, Lonnie Cobb (Danna) of Jackson; Tommy Cobb of Henderson and James Griswell (Renee) of Reagan; a daughter, Sherry Griswell (Billy) of Oran, MO); eleven grandchildren, Christa (Cory) Hahn, McKinley (Brent) Hatcher, Blake Griswell (Fiancée Veronica Esparza), Colton (Lauren) Cobb, Corey Griswell, Tristan Griswell (Fiancée Brittany Douglas) Stephanie Watkins (Jason) Kimberly Morein (David) and Hayden Bivens (Haley) and fourteen great grandchildren, and one deceased, Chelbie Hahn; a brother, Curtis Cupples (Anita) of Pulaski, TN and a sister, Vicky Taylor of Lexington, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a great grandchild and four brothers, Edward Cupples, Leland Cupples, Howard Cupples and Carlos Cupples.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 5^th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Cooper Sword officiating. Burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery.    

The family will receive friends at East Main 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday.
