MIKE KING
Henderson, TN: David Michael King age 74 passed away May 24, 2021 at Baptist East Hospital.
He was born November 30, 1946 in Jackson, TN, the son of the late David Frye ‘Johnny’ and Lona Mae Sells King. At the age of ten his family moved to Glendale, AZ, where he grew up and attended school, graduating in 1964. He went to college to become a pharmacist but then joined the Air Force during his college days. He served four years in the Air Force, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Upon completion of four years of service, he returned to Chester County. He married Peggy Jane Vestal on October 1, 1972 and they made their home in the New Friendship Community. He was an excellent technician, working for ATT for thirty-five years, retiring in August of 2006. He was a Baptist in belief.
He loved to fish, enjoyed wood working and especially liked to spend time with his grandchildren.
Mr. King is survived by his wife, Peggy Jane Vestal King of Henderson; two daughters, Kimberly Clayton (Stan) of Pinson and Michelle Ray of Henderson; five grandchildren, Nathan Clayton (Shannon), Natalie Leland (John), Jada King and Johnathan Ray (Grace) and Tyler Ray (Shelbie) and two great grand grandchildren, Carter Clayton and Michael Ray.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jason Michael King.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 26th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with family members speaking.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM on Wednesday.
