Mike Vandiver, age 67, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was born May 26, 1956 in Selmer, TN the son of Geneva Atkinson Vandiver and the late Roy Vandiver.
After high school, he went to work on the pipeline in Alaska. He pipelined there for several years and then worked with the Union Local 798 all over the United States. After eight years of pipelining, he ventured out on is own and started his own logging business. Soon after, he also started his sawmill.
He met and married Susan Theetge, daughter of George Theetge and the late Joyce Theetge, on October 19, 1985. They made their home on the family farm in Hornsby, TN.
He was a member of Hatchie Baptist church. Although he never fully retired from his logging business, he built a very successful business in which he passed on to his sons and grandsons. He was awarded "Logger of the Year" during his career and had many other accomplishments. He was a visionary and could turn any property into a masterpiece. One of his greatest joys and accomplishments was being able to work with his two sons and pass his legacy on to them.
Outside of his business and farm, you could find him near Clifton, TN on the river with his family and friends making great memories. Mike never met a stranger and had friends everywhere.
He is preceded in death by his father, Roy Vandiver; mother-in-law, Joyce Theetge.
He is survived by his wife Susan Vandiver of Hornsby, TN; two sons, Jesse Vandiver and wife Ashley of Hornsby, TN, Casey Vandiver and wife Sheridan of Hornsby, TN; five grandchildren, Easton, Liam, Jude, Zeb, and Dawson Vandiver; mother, Geneva Vandiver of Selmer, TN; father-in-law, George Theetge of Hornsby, TN; two brothers, Larry Vandiver of Counce, TN, John Vandiver and wife Pam of Hornsby, TN; a sister, Minta Rhodes and husband Jheri of Selmer, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.
