Mettra Hinton Holt of Florence, AL, formerly of Cypress Inn, TN was born October 7, 1917 in Wayne County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late James Coleman (Buddy) and Susan Ellen Bevis Hinton. She was united in marriage to Arvil Holt on September 23, 1933 and he preceded her in death on June 4, 2004.
Mrs. Holt was a homemaker and a member of the Hydes Chapel Church of Christ in Cypress Inn, Tennessee.
Mrs. Holt departed this life on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at ECM Hospital in Florence, Alabama at the age of 93 Years, 1 Month, 28 Days.
She is survived by a son, Jimmy Holt and wife, Margie Nell (Tootie), Cypress Inn, TN; daughters, Margaret Gray and husband, J. L., Florence, AL, Carolyn Crotts and husband, Jerry, Coker, AL, Shelia Barrier and husband, Donnie, Killen, AL; daughters-in law, Hazel Holt and Sue Holt both of Florence, AL; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; a brother, Clifton Hinton and wife, Wadean, Florence, AL; sister-in-law, Essie Myhan, Florence, AL; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Holt was preceded in death by sons, Rudolph, Eldred, and Granville Holt; brothers, Lell Hinton, Chester Bevis; sisters, Mildred Bevis, Floy Wright, Lois Covington.
Services will be held on Tuesday,December 7, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Nolan Burns and Richard Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lutts, Tennessee. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Monday, December 6, 2010 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Tuesday, December 7, 2010 from 10 am to service time at the funeral home.
