Melvin Arbie (Gator) Whitewas born in Lauderdale County, Alabama on July 11, 1929 the son of the late Ollie and Thelma Estelle Scott White. Mr. White had worked in maintenance at Monarch Tile for 36 years before retiring. He was an Army Veteran. Mr. White had lived in Waterloo, Alabama all of his life. He attended the Bumpus Creek Freewill Baptist Church. He was a member of the Waterloo Senior Citizens. He enjoyed fishing, playing Rook, visiting with friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Mr. White departed this life on Friday, April 11, 2008 at the age of 78 years, 9 months.He is survived by the love of his life and mother of his children, Virginia Darby White; 1 son: Jerry (Doubie) White of Waterloo, Alabama; 2 daughters: Wanda (Muddy) Stricklin and her husband Roger of Waterloo, Alabama, Janice (Punkin) Lovelace and her husband Wesley of Florence, Alabama; 4 grandchildren: Toni White, Maria White, Casey Stricklin, Emsley Lovelace; 2 great-grandchildren: Mayleigha White, Makenzye White; daughter-in-law: Cindy White.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Ledford White; a granddaughter: Andrea Dawn Stricklin; a special brother-in-law and best friend: Glen Shands.
