Melissa Byersdorf Stevenson was born on April 28, 1975 in Sheffield, Alabama, the daughter of the late Stanley Byersdorf and Shirley Swader Linzie.

She was united in marriage to Jeremy Stevenson, who preceded his wife in death.

Melissa departed this life on May 27, 2024 in Florence, Alabama at the age of 49 years and 29 days.

She is survived by her daughters, Chesseney Stevenson and Elizabeth Stevenson (Harley); son, Logan Austin (Jessica); grandchildren, Camryn Cecilia Calderon, Marlei Jayde Roberson, Bennett Eugene Austin, and Logan Everly-Mae Austin; sisters, Monica Harper (Donny) and Latasha Prescott (Lee); brothers, Bradley Swader (Missy) and Daniel Byersdorf; and nieces and nephews, Justin Mobley (Brittany), Jessie Harper, and Creed Stevenson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Melissa was preceded in death by her son, Dylan Wade Austin; stepfather, Ron Linzie; and grandparents, Clarence Swader, Azlee Swader, J.D. Byersdorf, and Elsie Byersdorf.
