MELBA JO JOHNSON
Lexington, TN: Melba Jo Jones Johnson age 71, passed away September 18, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born June 20, 1945 in Chester County, the daughter of the late Sam P. and Charlene Hysmith Jones. She attended Chester County Schools. She worked in the cafeteria at Freed-Hardeman University for seventeen years. She married George Johnson in 1972. She retired from Atlantis Plastic in Jackson in 2004. Mr. Johnson died in 2015. She was a member of the Pentecostal Lighthouse in Henderson County. She lived in Lexington for twenty-two years, made her home in Luray for a year and then made her home at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by a son, Paul Jones of Jackson and a daughter, Sheila Ann Corbitt of Luray; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two brothers, Eddie Jones of Henderson and Sammy Jones of Cucuron, France and a sister, Judy Cox of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Johnson in 2015, a son Kenny Silvers, three brothers, Roger Dale (Buddy) Jones, Johnny Jones and Ricky Jones and a sister, Jona Kaye Busby.
Memorial services will be 5:00 PM Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Donald Jones and Ken Kitchen officiating.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Thursday.
