Melba Jean Horton

Funeral services for Melba Jean Horton, age 66, of Collinwood, TN will be Friday, April 4, 2008 at 3 pm at Cromwell Crossroads Church, Collinwood, with John E. Banks and Ricky Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Pallbearers will be George and Jerry Balentine, Shane and Rusty Sherrill, Mark Horton, and Antonio Lewis. Visitation will be Thursday, April 3, 2008 from 5 pm to 9 pm and Friday, April 4, 2008 from 10 am until 1:30 pm at Shackelford Funeral Home in Collinwood. Her body will be placed in the church one hour before the services.



She died at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Annex in Florence, AL on Wednesday, April 02, 2008 after a short illness.



Mrs. Horton, a native of Cypress Inn, TN, was a custodian at Collinwood Elementary School and was preceded in death by her parents, Georgie Sevier and Gladys Geneva Patterson Sherrill and a brother, Robert Neal Sherrill.



Survivors, husband, Lester Horton, Collinwood; son, Jeff Horton, Tallahassee, FL; daughters, Lisa Horton, Collinwood, Teresa (Charles) Carroll, Cloverdale, AL; grandchildren, Jonathon, Nicole, and Erica Carroll and Matthew and Zach Horton; brother, Junior (Jeanith) Sherrill, Lutts, TN; sisters, Carolyn (Bill) Boston, Cloverdale, AL, Sue (Donnie) Whitehead, Florence; nieces and nephews.
