Maxine Townsend

d. December 4, 2012

Maxine Elizabeth Towsend, 67, of Colorado Springs, died Tuesday. She was born to the late Saint Patrick and late Lucille Dale, August 3, 1945, in Mishawaka, Indiana. Maxine graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1963 and received a BA in Business from Bethany Nazarene College in 1968. She sang and taught of Christ's love all over the U.S. as pastor's wife to Bob Jackson from 1968 to 1999. She married Kelly Townsend of Colorado Springs, in 2010 and spent the last years in deep, loving relationships with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Maxine sang, directed choirs, excelled in her talent for warmth and style as an interior decorator, and worked for years off and on as a bank teller, ending her career as a well-loved financial services counselor for Christian and Missionary Alliance. Maxine sang in the First Presbyterian Church choir for 12 years, her glowing face and clear soprano an integral, beautiful part in their ministry. She passionately studied the Bible and Jewish history and acted in Women of the Bible performances. Her warm spirit and sparkling humor made her friend-circle worldwide. She wholeheartedly lived her faith in God, particularly in peacemaking. Her steadfast regard for every person in her life, family to adopted family to strangers, sprang from a heart filled with unconditional love. No matter the situation or struggle, she found a place of joy and shared that with all.

Maxine is survived by three children, Jene Jackson (ex-husband, Tom) and Jason Jackson (wife, Lisa), of Colorado Springs; and Justin Jackson (wife, Kristin), of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She also is survived by six grandchildren, Sophia, Garrett, Levi, Xavier, Justin, and Solomon.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the First Presbyterian choir and Pikes Peak Hospice.
