The widow of L. C. Russell, Mrs. Russell died Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Methodist Hospice Residence.
She was a native of Rogers Springs, the daughter of the late L. D. and Mary Johnson Dixon. Mrs. Russell was a graduate of Middleton (TN) High School, Class of 1949, lived in Memphis over 60 years and was united in marriage to Mr. Russell of December 10, 1951. She attended Bellevue Baptist Church while living in Memphis, but always retained her membership at New Bethel Baptist Church where she had formerly taught Sunday School. Mrs. Russell remained active throughout her life. An avid gardener, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and was always ready for a shopping trip.
She leaves daughters, Brenda (Frank) Lindsey and Debra (Craig) Yarbrough, both of Arlington; sons, Keith (Pam) Russell of Burlison, TN and Gary (Sandra) Russell of Memphis; two sisters, Bernell Holland of Saulsbury and Mary Alice (George) Spencer of Collierville; one brother, Troy (Shirley) Dixon of Saulsbury; six grandchildren, John (Stephanie) Lindsey, Jesse Yarbrough, Stacey (Justin) Barnett, Christy (Jonathan) Smith, Joshua and Justin Russell; and six-great grandchildren, Reese Lindsey, Alex, Emma and Ava Faye Smith, Gracie Mae and Cody Russell.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Russell; a brother, Junior Dixon; and a brother-in-law, Frank Holland.
