Maxine Ridley

MAXINE RIDLEY

Henderson, TN: Venita Maxine Mathenia Ridley, age 91 passed away January 3, 2024, at AHC at Humboldt.

She was born November 4, 1932, in Dyess, AR, the daughter of the late Solon Franklin Mathenia and Bernice Leona  Cobb Mathenia Hunter. She married Wallace Ridley in 1947 and they made their home in the Wilson School Community, of Chester County where they farmed.  Mrs. Ridley work alongside her husband, driving a truck, or what ever was needed on the farm while providing three cooked meals a day for her family.    

She helped to establish the Wilson School Mission which became Antioch Baptist Church, where she was very active.

She was an excellent seamstress, making all her the children’s clothes.

She enjoyed vacationing in the Smoky Mountains. She and Mr. Ridley enjoyed square dancing.

Mrs. Ridley is survived by four daughters, Janet Ridley Terrell of Jackson, Ellen Dodd (Robert) of Trenton, Ruth Carr (Mark) of Pinson and Susan Mullins of Jackson; six grandchildren, James Wallace Ridley, Kim White, Brent Weeks, Tyler Carr, Will Mullins and Ethan Mullins and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a grandson, Brodie Weeks.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 6^th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Tyler Carr and Brent Weeks officiating. Burial will follow at Chester County Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM service time on Saturday.
