Maxine Qualls Fondren Alexander
After a ten year battle with Alzheimer's disease, Maxine Fondren Alexander, 81, began her eternal life with Jesus on November 4, 2008, at Forest Cove Nursing Home, Jackson, Tennessee.
Margaret Maxine Qualls was born in Hardin County, TN, on February 5, 1927, daughter of the late Grady C. and Esther (Wilson) Qualls. She attended Hardin County schools, graduating in 1945 from Savannah High School. In September, 1945, she married Barnie Fondren of Savannah. He preceded her in death in 1984. In February, 1993, she married Bruce Alexander of Savannah.
Maxine professed faith in Christ at a very early age at East End Methodist Church in Savannah. She will always be remembered as a gentle Christian lady who was a very loving, caring person. She never spoke badly of anyone with whom she came into contact.
Survivors include her husband, Bruce Alexander, of the home in Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Dan Wood, Sikeston, Missouri; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Danny Fondren, of St. Petersburg, Florida; Randy and Phyllis Fondren of Wildersville, Tennessee; and Ronnie and Deborah Fondren, Jackson. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Leanne Hopper, Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Stacy Bernard, St. Petersburg, Florida; Will, Brittany, and Blake Fondren of Wildersville, Tennessee; and Daniel, Ben, and Becky Fondren of Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Kate Hopper of Cape Girardeau; two brothers and sisters-in-law, G. C. and Dorothy Qualls of Savannah and Ray and Shirley Qualls, of Selmer; one sister, Robbie Glover, Savannah; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were two sisters, Dorothy Thacker and Ruth Hinton, both of Savannah.
