Max Henry Fitzgerald

Mr. Max Henry Fitzgerald, age 86 of Bethel Springs, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at McNairy County Regional Hospital in Selmer.
A native of Saulsbury, he was the son of the late John DeWitt and Hattie Clements Fitzgerald. He retired from the US Navy on October 11, 1964 after 20 years of service. Mr. Fitzgerald lived in Florida for 10 years before returning to Bethel Springs where he lived from 1978 - 2013. A former member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Henderson, he worshiped at Faith Baptist in Selmer for the past five years. He was the widower of Flora Lorena Fitzgerald whom he married on August 1, 1977.
Among his survivors, he leaves a son, John Matthew Fitzgerald of Springfield, MA; a nephew, Larry Fitzgerald; two stepsons, Calvin D. Cole and Stanley M. "Mike" Cole, Sr.; and two grandchildren, Frank Fitzgerald and Lilly Fitzgerald. He also leaves his close friends and caregivers, Pastor Fred Ware and William Hood.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Pearl, Velma, Ruth, Beulah Mae and Mattie Lee; and brothers, Sam Elliott, Willie Joe, Hugh P. and Jack Dempsey Fitzgerald.
