Mrs. McCarter died Monday evening at Bolivar General Hospital.
The widow of the late Paul J. McCarter, she was a clerk for Sims grocery for 23 years, after which she was a homemaker. She was born October 1, 1921 to the late Anderson "Doc" and Pearl Elkins Davis in Middleton, Tennessee. She loved gardening, especially tomatoes and flowers. Mrs. McCarter was a member of the Middleton church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie A. Lamberth of Middleton, Ila Mae Adams of Tishomingo, MS and Lila Faye Rhodes of Middleton; two sons, Lester Gene McCarter and Sonny McCarter, both of Middleton; five grandchildren, Donna Henson, Mickey McCarter and Keesha Lamberth, all of Middleton, Keenan Lamberth of Selmer and Michelle Chase of Toone; and three great-grandchildren, Haley Chase and Taylor Chase of Toone and Justin Henson of Middleton.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
