Maurice Edward Mills

Mr. Maurice Edward Mills, age 87 of Pocahontas, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Memphis.
Mr. Mills was born February 22, 1924 to the late William Ester and Maude Ellen Jones Mills in Hickman, KY. He married Ann Huddleston, who survives, March 25, 1943 and worked as a truck driver for Gordon Transport for 25 years. He served his country as a Private First Class in the US Army during World War II. Having lived 40 years in Memphis, he was a member of the Local Teamsters 667 and the Masonic Lodge - Berclair Avenue, both in Memphis. He moved to the Hardeman County area in 1985. Mr. Mills was a member of the Pocahontas First Baptist Church and loved to fish, hunt and garden.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Marilyn Fryar of Middleton, Linda Hanks and husband Ronnie of Bartlett, and Debbie Upchurch of Cordova; a son, Tommy Mills and wife Linda of Hernando, MS; seven grandchildren, Lisa Brock and husband Johnny, Misty Byrd and husband Randy, Shane Fryar and wife Kelly, Tracy Dement and husband Michael, Christy Cranford, Michelle Davis, and Mark Upchurch; and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Murray, Ydell and Kenneth Mills.
