MATTIE SUE THOMPSON
Bells, TN: Mattie Sue Thompson, age 89 passed away Saturday afternoon, November 26, 2011 at her home in Bells, TN.
She was born and reared in Crockett County, the Cypress Community. She was the daughter of the late Homer Lee and Lillie Mae Boyd Clark. She attended Crockett County schools and graduated from Bells High School in 1940. She married Carl Cleek in 1940 and they made their home at Bells, TN. She later married Nolen Thompson in 1967 and they lived in Jackson and in Bells. Mr. Thompson died in 2003. She had lived on the same family farm all of her life. She was a member of the Cypress United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by two daughters, Donna Thomas and husband Robert of Alamo and Gaye Jordan and husband Ken of Bells, a step daughter Brenda Kay Hanna and husband Donnie of Henderson and a brother Larry Clark and wife Peggy of Bells. She has 5 grandchildren, 8 great grand children and 1 great-great grand child.
She was preceded in death by a great grandson Christopher Moore, a brother James Clark and a sister Margaret Clark.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Cypress United Methodist Church near Bells with Rev. Derek White and Rev. Terry Presson officiating and burial will follow in the Cypress Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Cypress Methodist Church from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Monday.
