Mary Lou Clayton Williams was born October 9, 1926 and raised in Waynesboro, Tennessee. After graduating from high school in Detroit, Michigan she went to work for The Detroit Bank. On returning to Tennessee she worked at the Bank of Waynesboro, then at Third National Bank in Nashville. Finally she moved to Savannah and worked at First National Bank where she retired as auditor. She married H. Jarvis Williams of Savannah on February 8, 1962.
She had been Treasurer of Hardin County United Givers Organization, the Savannah Book Club, the Savannah Cemetery Association, and the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents Lola and W.O. (Bill) Clayton, and by her beloved husband, Jarvis. She is survived by two stepchildren, Robert Williams, his wife Robbie, and Jill Niell, her husband Fred Niell, by four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, L.O. Clayton and two nieces.
