She was born and reared in Limestone County, Alabama, daughter of the late Dee Witt and Donnie Mae Wright Furline. She graduated High School in Athens, Alabama in 1936. She was married to Will A. Walker in 1939 and they made their home in Springhill, Tennessee. She began work at First Farmers and Merchant National Bank in 1965 and worked there 24 years, retiring in 1990. Mr. Walker worked for 20 years at Tennessee Children’s Home and later at the State Prison in Nashville as an electrician.
Mr. Walker died in 1977. Mrs. Walker continued to live in Springhill and in 1980 she was married to Harvey Shook. They moved to Henderson in 1991. Mr. Shook died in 2000.
Mary was a former member of the Freed-Hardeman Associates. She had always been an active supporter of the Tennessee Children’s Home at Springhill and also a member of the Estes Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Rice of Ervin, TX and Linda Weaver and husband Eli of Mt. Dora, FL. Two sons Dr. Allen Walker and wife Karen of Henderson and Joe Walker and wife Sandra of Burlison, TN.
