Mary I. Smothers

Mary I. (Gene) Finley Smothers was born March 13, 1929 in Tennessee the daughter of the late J. G. and Mary Martin Finley. She was united in marriage to Beuferd Smothers on October 11, 1946. Mr. Smothers preceded her in death on September 17, 1998. Mrs. Smothers was a retired seamstress, having worked for clothing manufacturers in Ilinois, Michigan and Tennessee. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Savannah. Mrs. Smothers departed this life on November 21, 2005 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 76 Years, 8 Months, 8 Days. She is survived by a daughter, Trisha Sebastian and husband Rick of Jacksonville, Florida; a son, Phil Smothers of Enville, Tennessee; six brothers: Darrel Finley, Edwin Finley, James Finley, Jerry Finley, and Larry Finley, all of Adamsville and Michael Finley of Selmer; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Smothers was also preceded in death by a daughter and son, Gloria and Bradford Smothers; three sisters: Faye Crouse, Arlene Harris, and Ruby Weeks; and two brothers: J. C. Finley and Eugene Finley.
