Mary Viness Smith

Mrs. Mary Viness Ervin Smith, age 89 of Bolivar, passed from this life Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at McNairy County Regional in Selmer.The widow of Buford Ervin and Burton Smith, she was born Aug 26, 1919 to the late Ambrose and Tressie Ervin Herriman and was a native of Hornsby. She worked for Western Mental Health Institute until 1989 as a nurse's aid and for Tennessee Foods. She was a member of Parrans Chapel Baptist Church and worked with the Ladies' Auxiliary and VBS. She visited the elderly in nursing homes and helped transport friends to town, church, and other places.She is survived by a daughter, Margie Harbin of Collierville; 10 grandchildren, Aaron Moss, Anthony Moss, Kathy Youngblood, Lee Wayne Harbin, Patricia Brasfield, Audrey Ervin, Stacey Ervin, Jack Ervin, Phillip Ervin and Robin Ervin; 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her sons, Wayne, Wade and Glynn Ervin; a daughter, Faye Chase; a brother, Verlin Herriman; and a grandson, Garron Moss.
