Funeral services for Mary Evelyn Pitts, age 86, of Waynesboro, TN will be One p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Shackelford Chapel in Waynesboro with Clifton Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors in Wayne County in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Pitts, a native of Waynesboro, TN died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro. She was a daughter of the late Clifford B. Meredith and Ada Ellen Higgins Meredith, and widow of the late Leonard Woodrow Pitts. Her family moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1962 and returned to Wayne County in 1972. She also had resided in Lawrence County. Mrs. Pitts was retired from Genesco and was a member of Eastern Star and Salem Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughters Judy Lynn Boyle of Marquette, Michigan and Joan Pope of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren, Connie Fox, Cheryl Murphy, Brian Copeland, Bruce Copeland, Melissa Boyle, Mary Welch, Heather Boyle, Adam Pope, and John Pope; and 17 great grandchildren.
