Mary McKinnie Moss, 96, of Bolivar, died Wednesday evening, August 23, 2006 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The widow of Fred Moss, who died April 27, 1981 after 57 years of marriage, she was a homemaker. She was born November 14, 1909 in Bolivar, daughter of the late David and Iva Vaughan McKinnie. She lived in Jonestown and Lambert, Miss. for several years before returning here to make her home in 1950. She loved to garden, was involved in raising Chihuahuas and was a marvelous cook, especially noted for her coconut cakes and biscuits. Mrs. Moss was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Graveside services were 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Walnut Grove Cemetery near Bolivar with David Cooper officiating. David Morris, Bobby and Lynn Morris, Buddy McKinnie, Frank and David Morris, Thomas Ray Morris, Dick McKinnie and Curtis McKinnie served as honorary casket bearers.
Mrs. Moss was the beloved aunt of Jean Crangle and Carolyn Rogers, both of Bolivar, Dot Martin of Aiken, SC, Joyce McDearmon and Patty McKinnie, both of McKenzie, Mary Elizabeth McKee of Borger, TX, David, Frank and Bobby Morris, all of Bolivar, Thomas Morris and Buddy McKinnie, both of McKenzie and Curtis McKinnie of Birmingham, AL, and others. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Winnie Morris, Lillian Robinson and Odell McKinnie and three brothers, Curtis, Edmond and Preston McKinnie.
