Mary Dale Melson was born on November 12, 1940 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Coleman Taft and Gladys May Evans Horton.
In 1965, she was united in marriage to Romie Jack Melson, who preceded her in death in 1998.
Mary worked at Parris Manufacturing as a line worker and was a caretaker for the elderly. She was a member of the Olivet Baptist Church. She loved to cross-stitch, cooking, quilting, shopping, and doing word search books.
Mary departed this life on December 14, 2022, in Bartlett, Tennessee at the age of 82 years and one month.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Dale Melson Cagle and her husband Brian of Ramer, Tennessee, and Denise Pharr Hunt of Franklin, Tennessee; brother, Ancil Horton of Greensburg, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Blair Hunt, Kaley Cagle, and Drew Cagle; one great grandchild, Rhett Jackson Cagle.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Johnson and Cornelia Haynes; brother, Kenneth Horton; and son in law Marcus McLemore.
