Mary Ellen Martin Berry

Mary Ellen Martin Berry was born October 17, 1934 in Collinwood, TN the daughter of the late James Earl and Ruth Morris Martin. She was united in marriage to Orbie C. Berry Jr. on January 1, 1955. Mary was co-owner of Berry's Package Store for 35 years, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Wayne County Republic Women, and the Cypress Inn Volunteer Fire Department. Mary departed this life on Monday, July 3, 2023 in Florence, AL at the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 16 days.

She is survived by husband, Orbie C. Berry Jr.; daughters, Susan Morgan (Tony), Nancy Morgan (John), and Lillie Ruth Brewer (Dennis), all of Cypress Inn, TN; sisters, Doris Stults and Dianne Butler (Russ), both of Iron City, TN; grandchildren, Suzanne Clayton (Alan), Mary Leigh Burns (Brandon), Haley Griggs (Justin), Jessica Bailey (Austin), John Berry Morgan (Makenzie), Phillip M. Berry II (Whitney), Norbie Brewer, and Merida Brewer; great grandchildren, JT, Ella, Grant, Garrett, Reese, Josey, Savannah, Elsie, John Clice, Parker, Preston, Bryant, Sadie, and Jax; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Phillip M. Berry; brothers, J.E., Raleigh, and John Frank Martin; and sister, Earlene Haynes.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN with Casey Jones. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.

Serving as Pallbearers will be John Berry Morgan, Phillip Berry II, Norbie Brewer, Alan Clayton, Justin Griggs, and Austin Bailey.
