Mary Jane Lightsey

October 25, 1943 — June 28, 2009

Mary Webb Lightsey age, 65, died Sunday morning, June 28, 2009 at West Tennessee Transitional.



Mary was born and reared in Chester County, the daughter of the late John Murray Webb, Sr. and Nola Seaton Webb. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1961 as a National Merit Scholar and graduated from Mississippi State University in 1964 with a degree in mathematics. She married Dr. George Rodney Lightsey in 1964. They lived in Starkville, MS where Dr. Lightsey was a chemical engineer professor at Mississippi State and Mary was a homemaker raising her daughters.



She loved to travel and she and her family visited and lived in many countries around the world. She was an avid Mississippi State ball fan, especially supporting baseball and followed many of the player’s professional careers. She was a very adventurous person and had bungee jumped at the original bungee jump site in New Zealand.



She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.



She is survived by two daughters; Anne Rucker and husband Kenneth of Nolensville and Beth Kilgore and husband Steve of Jacksonville, FL. She has three grandchildren; George, Adam, and Emma Rucker. She also has two brothers; John Webb and wife Charlotte and James Webb and wife Rene all of Henderson, and three sisters; Julia Parchman of Jackson, TN, June Stewart Findley of Jonesboro, AR and Janice Brown and husband Keith of Henderson.



Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Sells officiating and Rev. Keith Brown will provide the music. Burial will follow at the Friendship Cemetery.



The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM.
