Mary Evora Cox Howell, 90, of Hornsby, died Saturday, April 8, 2006 at her son's home in Senatobia, Miss.
The widow of Burley Woodrow Howell, who died June 7, 2000 after 59 years of marriage, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Howell was born September 30, 1915, in Chester County at the old Cox homeplace, daughter of the late Robert Lee Cox and Mattie King Cox. She was a member of the Hornsby Baptist Church and loved gardening and cooking.
Services were at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with David Cooper officiating. Burial was in Chester County Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her son, David L. Howell of Senatobia; one grandson, Lee S. Howell of Memphis; one granddaughter, Kelly L. Massing of Senatobia; one great grandchild, Aubrey Elizabeth Massing of Senatobia; three sisters, Evelyn Haynes of Knoxville, and Mavine and Bernese Cox both of Hornsby and one brother, Leon Cox of Pinson. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Everette, John and Robert Cox.
