Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Henson of Bolivar departed this life at the age
of 76 years, four months and seven days Thursday afternoon,
November 8, 2012 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Having lived most of her life in Hardeman County, she was born in
Bolivar July 1, 1936 to the late Arthur and Irene Grantham Shields.
On November 8, 1952, she was united in marriage to Orlin Henson,
who preceded her in death in July of 2012. She worked in the
dietary department at Western Mental Health Institute, retiring in
1998 after 17 years of service. She volunteered at Pine Meadows
Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, worked drives for St. Jude
Children's Research Hospital and served her community by sending
flowers to people who had lost loved ones. She was a devoted
Christian and member of the Whiteville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Pierce and husband James
of Medon and Sheila Dellinger and husband Clyde of Bolivar; three
sons, Donnie Henson and wife Joanne of Whiteville, Terry Henson
of Medon, and Clifford Henson and wife Sherri of Henderson; nine
grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three nieces and one
nephew.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by
two brothers, Hubert Shields and Houston Shields.
