Mary E. Harris

Mary E. Harris was born May 11, 1918 in Los Angeles, California. She was the last of the ten children of the late Adam and Sonia Bell Smith Martin.



She was united in marriage to Marlie Harris. Mr. Harris preceded her in death in 1988.



Mrs. Harris was a retired factory worker. She was a charter member of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Selmer, Tennessee, the very first prayer meeting was held at her house. She attended Safe Harbor church and held a special place in her heart for the congregation.



Mrs. Harris departed this life on May 29, 2010 in Bethel Springs, Tennessee at the age of 92 Years, 18 Days. She is survived by a daughter, Erica J. Elliot of Bethel Springs, TN, she greatly contributed to her mother's quality of life;eight grandchildren, Wanda Prince of Bethel Springs, TN, Wayne Crowe of Bethel Springs, TN, Betty Graham of Bethel Springs, TN, Lesley Brown of Bethel Springs, TN, Roger Franks of Tupelo, MS, Janice Baird of Selmer, TN, Teresa Robinson of Jacksonville, FL, Sarah Cupac of Jacksonville, FL; seven great grandchildren, Bobby Gladish, Jessica Crowe, Mark Crowe, Drew Brown, Gage Brown, Christopher Franks, Steven Franks; a grt-grt-grandchild, Allison Gladish.



In addition to her parents, Mrs Harris was preceded in death by two daughters, Ellen Sonia King and Sarah Helen Franks.



The family would like to thank Mr. Bobby Mitchell of Rexall Drugs, Ms. Matilda Burton, Selmer and Bethel Springs communities. Your kindness, care and prayers meant so much to Mrs. Harris and her family.
