Mary Margaret Gowdy

Mary Margaret Gowdy was born August 3, 1924 in Shelby County, TN the daughter of the late Paul People and Ida Creel Read.She was united in marriage to Glenn Eugene Gowdy Sr. in May of 1944. Mr. Gowdy preceded her in death on March 10, 1976.Mrs. Gowdy lived in Bolivar, TN before moving to McNairy County, 17 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of Adundant Life Church of God. She loved reading her bible, listening to Gospel music, going to church until she became unable, and having her family visit, especially her grandchildren.Mrs. Gowdy departed this life on March 19, 2013 in Stantonville, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 7 Months, 16 Days.She is survived by two daughters, Sue Jones of Stantonville, TN, Lois Gowdy of Huntingdon, TN; a son, Bennie Gowdy and wife Sarah of Pinson, TN; three sisters, Minnie May Read, Mildred Read Haire and Pat Read all of Walls, MS; a brother, Robert Read of Memphis, TN; 12 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild.In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Gowdy was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Doles; a son, Glenn Eugene Gowdy Jr.; two brothers, Melvin Read and Nelson Read.
