Mary Lee Flatt

July 31, 1937 — October 13, 2010

Jackson, TN: Mary Lee Banks Pickett Flatt, age 73, passed away October 13, 2010 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.



She was born and reared in the Sweetlips Community of Chester County the daughter of the late Lonzo Taft and Fannie Mae Presley Banks. She went to school at Sweetlips. She had worked at Chester County Mfg., Leapwood Mfg. and I Appeal at Scotts Hill. She married Jerrel Wayne Flatt, Sr. in 1972. They owned and operated J & M Apparel from the early 80’s to the late 90’s when she retired. She enjoyed sewing and looked at sewing more as an art than as a job. She and Mr. Flatt made their home at Bethel Springs and then in Jackson for the past two years.



She is survived by her husband, Jerrel Wayne Flatt, Sr. of Jackson; two sons, Ricky Dale Pickett (Diane) of Henderson and Jerrel ‘Butchy’ Flatt, Jr. (Brandy) of Lakeland; two daughters, Debbie Pickett Roark (William) of Bethel Springs and Janet Pickett Phelps (Sam) of Henderson and a honorary daughter, Teresa Jones (Mike) of Jackson; four brothers, Woodrow Banks (Pat) of Fort Worth, TX, Roy Banks (June) of Bay City, MI, Larry Banks (Mary) of Medina and J.R. Banks (Debbie) of Beech Bluff; a sister, Faye Jackson (Bill) of Jackson.



Grandchildren, Tina Hopper, Letisha Weaver, Tommy Ivy, Tabitha Maness, Leslie Swims, Lyndsi Austin, Emma Grace Flatt, Caden Michael Flatt and a step grandson, Duane Eliff and great grandchildren, Hailey and Hanna Hopper, Zachary, David Michael, Cameron Weaver, Kelsey Ivy, Ashley, Robert and Chyenne, Robert Maness, Jr., Daniel Austin, Nathan Austin and Mollie Connor.



She is preceded in death by a son, Michael Pickett in 1984; a stepdaughter, Teresa Flatt Eliff and a sister, Dorothy Arp.
