Mary Elaine Comer was born on May 17, 1937 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Samuel and Yvonne Cote. In 1964, she was united in marriage to Gary Comer, who preceded his wife in death.
Mary honorably served her country in the United States Air Force. After her time in the military, she moved to San Bernardino, California, where she met her husband, Gary. She later moved to Michigan, where she spent many years living in Flint and Attica. She spent the remainder of her life in Savannah, Tennessee, where she was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mary was an avid animal lover and enjoyed volunteering at the animal shelter while living in Michigan. She loved to talk about her time in the service, visit Shiloh Military Park, and attend any kind of military events.
Mary Elaine Comer departed this life on September 24, 2019 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 82 years, 4 months, and 7 days.
She is survived by her daughters, Stacy Lanier of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Sheila McLaren and her husband Steve of Saginaw, Michigan; stepsons, Danny McLaren and Steve McLaren; brother, Robert Cote of Perdido Bay, Alabama; four grandchildren, Marcus, Ashley Petitti, Joshua June, and Aaron Petitti; step granddaughter, Nikki Lambert; three great grandchildren, Ameera Martin, Liam Adle, and Kyler Adle; and special friends, Bill and his wife Kathy Moon and family, that cared for Mary for many years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant son, Samuel Comer, and one sister, Lorraine Bienvenue.
