MARY ORICK COLLINS
Henderson, TN: Mary Lou Orick Collins age 72, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born November 29, 1947 in Jackson and grew up in Henderson, the daughter of the late Carley Wroten and Electra Galbraith Orick. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1965 and received an Associates of Arts Degree at Freed-Hardeman in 1967, and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Lambuth in 1969. She married John Collins of Hohenwald in 1973 and they made their home in Henderson.
She began working at Freed-Hardeman and worked for twenty-four years, retiring as Administrative Assistant for the School of Education in May 2009.
She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ, where she had taught in the Sunday school program. She was a former member of the Freed Hardeman Associates.
Mrs. Collins is survived by three sons, Mark Collins and wife Alicia of Nashville, Justin Collins and wife Sandra of Franklin and Jared Collins and wife Marah of Henderson and five grandchildren, Anna, Adam, Cameron, Andy and Saul Collins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dr. John Collins, July 2017.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, February 23rd at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with John Sweeney, Larry Oldham and Mark Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Henderson City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon until funeral time
