Mary Marie Burns Morgan

Mary Marie Burns Morgan, beloved soul and cherished member of the Iron City community, departed this life on Sunday, August 25, 2024, surrounded by her family in Waynesboro, TN. Marie was born on June 29, 1944, in Iron City, TN, the daughter of the late Cecil and Ida Simmons Burns.

Marie dedicated her life to grooming beauty, working many fulfilling years as a hairdresser before embracing the joy of retirement. Her passion for nurturing extended beyond her profession; she found immense happiness in cooking, canning delicious preserves, and tending to her beloved flowers.

On September 5, 1970, Marie united in marriage with James Wesley Morgan, her steadfast partner who remains in Iron City, TN. Together, they created a home filled with love and laughter, raising a beautiful family. 

She is survived by her husband, James Wesley Morgan of Iron City, TN; sons, James Jason Morgan (Jenny) of Iron City, TN; daughters, Jackie Holt Chumley (Leon) of Florence, AL, and Jennifer Morgan Vandiver (Robert) of Iron City, TN; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Burns and Edward Burns; and sister, Catherine Burns.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm service time at the Stateline Church in Iron City, TN.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Stateline Church in Iron City, TN with Greg Stults officiating. Burial will following the Railroad Cemetery in Iron City, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.

Pallbearers will be Cooper Vandiver, Josh Morgan, Glen Frazier, Randy Wallace, Gary Berry, and Larry Miller.
