Mary Mae Morgan Brigance died December 25, 2007, at her home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She was born October 19, 1924, at Granby, Missouri, to parents Ray Irvin and Lora Holley Morgan, and grew up in Sand Springs, OK. She married Dr. Frederick William Brigance of Henderson, TN, in 1943. As the wife of a Navy dentist, she made homes for her family from coast to coast and overseas. She made many friends across the country and saw much of the world in the course of their travels. After retiring, the Brigances settled in Murfreesboro, TN, and became active members of the community which was their home for the remainder of their lives.
Mrs. Brigance devoted much of her time and many talents to the patriotic and historical organizations to which she belonged, including Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as State Regent of the Tennessee Society 1986-1989; Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America, serving as State President of the Tennessee Chapter 1991-1994; Daughters of the American Colonists; The Colonial Dames of America; the Mayflower Society; Magna Charta Dames and Barons; United States Daughters of 1812; and the Association for Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Frederick W. Brigance; a brother Bob Morgan, Kingsville, TX; and two sisters, Frankie Dunn, Sand Springs, OK, and Helen Williams, Longview, TX. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Paul G. Reeve III, Houston, TX; daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Smith, Temple, TX; grandson, Edward Smith, Tulsa, OK; two great-grandsons, Zachary Smith and Tyler Smith, Powder Springs, GA; a new great-granddaughter, Elyssa Smith, Tulsa, OK; two brothers and their wives, Bill and Madeline Morgan, Longview, TX, and Jim and Sheila Morgan, Portland, TX; and a number of loving nieces and nephews.
