Mary Alice Beard Anderson

Mary Alice Beard Anderson of Tenafly, New Jersey, passed away on February 6, 2013, at the age of 100. A native of Clifton, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Captain Charles Russell Beard and the late Carrie Russ Beard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Commodore John William Anderson and her sister and brother-in-law Dorothy Beard and Frank H. Norman Jr. She is survived by a son Charles Beard Anderson and wife Deborah and grandson Christopher John William Anderson, all of Cross River, New York. A special first cousin, Carolyn Russ Waters of Waynesboro, also survives. Mrs. Anderson served in the Women’s Army Corp during World War II where she met her husband who later became Commodore of the United States Line. A graveside service for the burial of Mrs. Anderson and honoring Commodore Anderson will be held at the Clifton City Cemetery Saturday, August 17, at 1:00 p.m.
