Marvin Tate Sipes, 68, of Bolivar, died Saturday, February 25, 2006 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He retired from the Forestry Division of the State of Tennessee after 19 years of service as a Hardeman County Ranger and was also a farmer. Mr. Sipes was born January 3, 1938 in Bolivar, son of the late Adron Odell Sipes and Gradie Virginia Chandler Sipes. He served in the Tenn. National Guard for 8 years, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bolivar and enjoyed the outdoors and working on the farm.
Services were 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Dr. Ernest E. James and David Cooper officiating. Burial was in Wyatt Cemetery near Hornsby.
Survivors include one daughter, Kim Sipes of Greenwood Lake, NY; one son, Todd Sipes of Dyersburg and two sisters, Virginia Sipes and Janice Anderson, both of Bolivar. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dell and Lynn Sipes.
